0Niko Springer is one of the greatest promises that German darts currently has to offer. The “Meenzer Bub” impresses with his talent, ambition and steady development - from the regional tournaments of the Rhineland-Palatinate Darts Association to the Alexandra Palace at the 2025 PDC World Championship.
His career began in 2019, when he celebrated his first successes at DDV tournaments. Podium places in Steinfurt, a semi-final in Flensburg and 21st place in the rankings marked the start. At the same time, Springer gained international experience - including at the Luxembourg Open - and made his PDC debut on the Development Tour in 2019. He then took part in Q-School in 2021, where his performance earned him a nomination for the PDC Europe Super League. There he made it straight through to the quarter-finals.
Springer showed his potential early on with final appearances on the Development Tour and the Challenge Tour - albeit without a title. In 2022, he qualified for a European Tour event for the first time and played his way through to the last 16 in Riesa, where only Peter Wright was able to stop him. He also gained further stage experience at the UK Open and in Hildesheim.
Springer finally made a name for himself with his appearance at the Super League 2023. He hit a 9-darter right at the start - in a leg in which his opponent also played six perfect darts. This was followed by a strong run on the Development Tour with several final appearances before he finally won his first title at the beginning of May. Further victories were not long in coming: By the summer of 2024, Springer had won four titles on the Development Tour, securing not only a tour card but also qualification for the PDC World Championship.
His debut on the big World Championship stage was impressive. Despite an average of 99 points, he lost 3:1 to Scott Williams in round 1 - a performance that nevertheless gives great hope for the future. It wasn't the only record: at the UK Open 2025, Springer threw an average of 115.92 against Cor Dekker - the second-highest in tournament history and a German record in a Major and TV match.
Springer reached his first Pro Tour round of 16 at the 7th Players Championship of the year; on the European Tour, he reached round two in Göttingen, followed by a first-round exit in Riesa.
This is Niko Springer.
A fighter. A record holder. A promise for the future.
