THE DART SIDE OF LIFE

WDF World Cup XVIII in Castlebar

For the first time in WDF World Cup history, one country swept all 3 World Cups. England dominated all events by winning 7 of the 8 events played.

Since 1999 BULL'S is a main board sponsor with the "Official World Cup Dartboard". The BULL'S Team was represented in this years event by Vladimir Anderson and Robert Wagner.

Vladimir Andersen won his first three games against Darryl Loughery from Northern Ireland (4:1), Stefan Kuntner from Austria (4:2) and Didier de Vuyst from Belgium with a clean 4:0. In the round of the Last 32 he met German Marko Puls and it proved to be a tough game. The young Danish won 4:3 and reached the Board Final against Craig Baxter from Scotland.

For a second time in a row Vladimir Anderson must go all the way to the deciding leg to win the match 4:3. His next opponent was another young player from Wales, Jamie Lewis was the better player in this game and won 5:2. For Vladimir Andersen the 5th place is his best result ever at a World Cup.

2007 World Cup finalist Robert Wagner won 4:0 against Chandrika Singh from India but lost his next game 1:4 against Peter Machin from Australia. In the double event Wagner/Aasland had no chance against a brillant team from Finland with Sanssi/Korte.

In the round of the Last 16 Sanssi/Korte met Andersen/Johansen. The danish team played well but they lost against this finish team, too.

Norway missed the next round in the team event by loosing two games against Scotland and South Africa in the final leg. The danish team won 9:8 against host Republic of Ireland but lost 7:9 in the quarter-finals against Finland.

In the overall ranking Denmark finished on a brilliant 6th place, Norway only reached place 20.

The German Mens Team with Olaf Tupuschis, Swen Seifert, Daniel Zygla and Marko Puls reached place 11. The German Ladies with Heike Jenkins and Marene Westermann were tied 7th. The German Youth Team reached a brillant second place behind England.

Max Hopp reached the Boys Final and led the game 3:0. It was a strong game of Max and Jimmy Hendriks with Averages above 90. Jimmy Hendriks won by 6:4 Legs and this was the only title which was not won from England. Max Hopp and Ann-Kathrin Wigmann also reached the Youth Pairs Final where they lost 3:6 against Jones/Sherrock
